In early 2020, Ambler Custom Guitars met with the phenomenal artist James Frankland to discuss a very special collaboration. The initial designs were all based around the Juliet model, however due to James’ playing style we started to make a couple of changes to the body shape – for example the top cutaway has been recessed further up the neck, to give an easier anchor point for James thumb when playing at the top end. With guitar design, changing one line usually means changing all of them to keep the balance and general aesthetics – and so after a period of design time, the Capulet model was born.

The initial run will be strictly limited to 15 guitars and built to the exact same specifications as James’ signature model. Each will be individually numbered, and have James’ signature on the back of the headstock. Every guitar will be painstakingly handmade in the Ambler Customs workshop, by world class luthier John Ambler, to the high standards that Ambler Customs has become famous for the world over.

The James Frankland signature model is constructed from the finest materials available and loaded with the best quality hardware, creating the ultimate balance between beauty and effortless playability.
Each guitar will be built to the following specifications:
- Top: Master-grade 5A Quilted Maple with trans black-burst finish.
- Body: Master-grade Swamp Ash with natural binding and rear comfort carve.
- Neck: Quarter sawn Roasted Maple.
- Fingerboard: Master-grade Macassar Ebony.
- Headstock Faceplate: Master-grade 5A Quilted Maple with trans black-burst finish.
- Scale Length: 25.5”
- Fretwire: Medium Jumbo Stainless Steel.
- Bridge: Hipshot low profile ‘Ibby’ string through bridge.
- Pickups: Seymour Duncan ‘Phat Cat’ P90’s.
- Tuners: Gotoh locking tuners.
- Electronics: Master Volume, Master Tone, Switchcraft 3 way selector switch.
- Finish: Finest 30% Sheen Satin coat Lacquer.

The first run will be limited to 15 guitars, and production on these will begin in March 2021. Those on the waiting list will be asked for a 30% deposit on the first of February 2021, which will finalise their order. Orders will be taken systematically, with those that register and pay their deposit first taking priority.
The price for this guitar is set at £3650 and will come with a high quality hardcase and certificate of authenticity.
