Book on an Ambler Guitar Building Course and we will teach you how to build a guitar to the very highest standard.
On the course you will learn every aspect of the build process, from using a hand plane, to cutting and gluing scarf joints. We will teach you fret work and how to set up a guitar for optimum performance. But most importantly, you will have incredible fun doing it!
Many people dream of crafting their own guitar, but in reality doing this from scratch can be very daunting, time consuming and expensive. With our course you can achieve this goal in the safe knowledge you will be guided and supported throughout the whole process by one of the UK’s leading Luthier’s, John Ambler. With experience built up over many years, John will teach you techniques and skills that you simply wont find anywhere else.
Courses are run over a six day period. Either as a six day block or a ‘Weekender’ course, which are split fri/sat/sun fri/sat/sun across two consecutive weekends.
The price for each course is £1,450 per person (including a £250 deposit payable on booking) and numbers are limited to three people per course. This is to ensure each student receives a very personal experience.
Course price includes: Basic woods (Mahogany body blank, maple for the neck and an Ebony fingerboard blank), consumables such as fret wire, truss rods, basic wiring components and a nut blank.
In addition students are required to bring their own hardware, as this is very often personal to the individual. However, if you require guidance in this area we are more than happy to assist.
Local accommodation is available in the town of Chesterfield with plenty of hotels and Airbnb venues to choose from, for anyone travelling from distance to participate on the course.
